Traveling opens doors of opportunities, discoveries and lasting memories. Ah yes, memories: heartwarming, hilarious, educational and those so-called Kodak moments. Travel takes us far away from home to eagerly taste something out of the daily responsibilities of life. We pack up our things and excitedly gather with loved ones expecting the unexpected in new destinations. Memories that last a lifetime. As the trip comes to an end, the home we couldn’t wait to get away from is the home we can’t wait to return to. This is the magic of travel. It renews the spirit.
I fell in love with travel at the age of 9. My parents made traveling an important part of life. Our family alone was a group! At an early age, my six sisters and I learned to:
• monitor the whereabouts of suitcases - once reaching the total of 41 bags and boxes;
• read boarding passes - we were very young girls and considered it a major achievemnt back then;
• keep an eye on each other - we were getting embarrassed shouting out our numbers everytime Mommy yelled COUNT OFF;
• discover ways to travel light, which was very hard to do since Daddy loooved shopping;
• improve our skills on taking pictures;
• come up with the ultimate essential travel make-up kit;
• put on make-up at the shortest time possible and in a moving vehicle;
• communicate in other languages, and at the same time improve our skills with charades. The two words in other languages we couldn't live without -- HOW MUCH?
I also enjoyed traveling with precious girlfriends from school. These were altogether different but so much fun! These friends are like sisters to me and I cherish each moment I am with them. We experienced eating all kinds of dishes: the most exotic being turtle soup and deep fried sea snake. We even got to choose which snake! After 25 years, I am still in close contact with them. Our trips together have kept us close.
I've also gone on holidays with my favorite set of women who also own travel agencies. We understand each other even if we don't say a word. We roar with laughter at the silliest of things and make it a point to always try something new. We have our own families but make it a point to spend some time with each other, even only for a few days. What a great way to recharge!
I've relocated from the wonderful noise and bustling activity of Manila to the tranquil countryside of the Netherlands in 2005.
I've always immensely enjoyed traveling with my sisters and girlfriends and organized trips for clients. Still do. This time, it is a pleasure to share my ideas in putting together different kinds of fun vacations for women who love to visit Europe.
I do hope you come along and discover Europe with me.
